The pride of Arizona, the impressive Grand Canyon, attracts more than five million tourists a year. This ancient wonder consists of limestone, sandstone, and shale caused by geological processes, including erosion from the Colorado River. At the beginning of the 20th century, the national reserve became a popular tourist destination.

Different companies offer exciting tours by bus, helicopter, Hummer and plane. For example, Grand Canyon Tour Company offers excellent luxury coach tours, while others sometimes use minivans. There are scenic drives to the Grand Canyon South Rim National Park. Indian heritage sites are also fascinating. National Geographic certified tours and cruises are also offered. There are lovely accommodations and places to eat on these sightseeing adventures. The buses take about fourteen hours.

Air tours take you from top to bottom of the magnificent Grand Canyon. There are package tours, for example, a helicopter ride to the west rim of the canyon and then a ride up the Colorado River from the bottom of the gorge. The flight takes you from Las Vegas, flying over Lake Mead and the Hoover Dam. If these tours are beyond your budget, you can always enjoy the six hour ride. The North Rim is closed for the winter, unlike the South Rim. You can also visit Zion National Park. The grandeur is breathtaking at sunrise and sunset – a photographer’s dream! Some of the tour operators are Papillon, Look Tours, Gateway Airlines, etc.

Some companies offer discounts for reservations made online. Most of these tours include hotel pickup and drop-off and other luxuries, from the glitz of Las Vegas to the Hoover Dam, Lake Mead, the Colorado River to the Grand Canyon Railway at Williams, and finally, the breathtaking canyon!
